WOW a homebirth? Did you like that? I am considering this for a second baby because I am scared of hospitals and they creep me out. :face_with_medical_mask:

OMG why would they deny you the epidural? Is that even legal? I am so sorry you had to suffer that pain!!! I was told multiple times I can get one because they saw how much pain I was in after they broke my water. We are mothers but we are also humans! We can only handle so much. Giving birth itself can be dangerous and it comes with risks but there are advancements that allows us be able to deliver safely now. Thank you for sharing your story! :pink_heart:

I did not realize there a lot of stigma for getting an epidural. Sad to read that :sad_but_relieved_face:

It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! My midwife had prenatal visits with me at her local office and at my home:slightly_smiling_face: and when baby time came I labored in my tub and had her beside my bed. With baby #2 I used the same midwife and had this baby at the kitchen table:rofl: I would recommend it to anyone who is interested but it’s extremely important to find and work with a midwife team that you trust. Ask all your questions. Weigh all your pros and cons and see if it would be right for you if you’re considering it  I was low risk both times so I felt extremely prepared and safe! Of course they can’t offer pain options like an epidural but I found also having a doula present helped me stay grounded and work through my contractions with my coping mechanisms.

I didn’t realize how much stigma there was around the epidural. Everyone around me said “get it, trust me”. I definitely wanted to try and go as long as possible without it, but the moment they had to break my water (I was like 5cm and it still hadn’t broken) I was crying and begging for it:joy: I’m so glad you did what was best for you and didn’t have to endure pain that wasn’t necessary, and that you were able to listen to your own desires - cuz pressure from loved ones is real (well meant but I’ll advised at times:sweat_smile:). Kudos to the moms here that gave birth without the epidural, but I think its safe to say that’s not gonna be me, haha!

government hospitals are very cruel and have no compassion they don’t have mercy on people with disabilities either let alone pregnant women or moms who are giving birth I’ve heard such cruel stories here in mexico about moms when they give birth and I am just so amazed because this topic should be absolutely normal at the end of the day we all come from a mother and although times back then were quite complicated compared to today I want to say that giving birth is no small thing and I believe it’s not for everyone because it’s such an intense pain that it does carry risks I couldn’t even imagine myself here with my second child I simply would have given my life for my first son when there were complications during delivery It was a pretty difficult experience but now my heart holds no grudge no hatred just disappointment at how cruel hospitals can be in some parts of the world And thank you also for sharing this because you gave me the opportunity to open my heart a little and share something very personal I appreciate this:white_heart:

absolutely mama unfortunately not all mothers have the opportunity to give birth in a private hospital but that is okay everyone has a different experience and sometimes it can be good sometimes it can be bad and that is totally valid for me my first experience was quite difficult with the second one more or less but now precisely because of that for my health I chose to get a tubal ligation so I wouldn’t have to go through that cruelty again that can really cause you quite a bit of harm but I am happy now with my two children and also a third baby was no longer in my plans and that is also totally valid now I loved this topic so much because it is really what it should be humanity should be more conscious and provide more help for pregnant moms and those who are about to give birth:white_heart:
