What was your most challenging thing that you had to deal with during pregnancy or postpartum that you didn’t expect? For me it was the after pains of my uterus shrinking and how much pain my nipples were in those first few weeks of breastfeeding
nothing can prepare you for those ![]()
The pain from engorgement! No one ever even warned me that was a thing I was so concerned
Yes! I didn’t know about that either with my first.
It was horrible I feel that should be talked about more! I had so many friends try to warn me of things to expect and not one told me my boobs would hurt so badly and I needed to express my milk right away
The thing I was not at all prepared for were my boyfriends family members treating me like an absolute child for setting simple expectations at my big age of 28 ![]()
This!!! I struggled with my husbands mom and sister they were so unkind to me with my first baby and made the first few months of being a new mom miserable but they wouldn’t act that way when my husband was around. When I finally had enough and my husband saw it we talked to them and they played victim and didn’t talk to us for like 2 months and it was so peaceful
but we all have a better relationship now thankfully. Hopefully things get better for you with his family. You are the momma and know what’s best for your baby and they need to understand that ![]()
They’ve only seen my son a handful of times in a year and a half because they refuse to apologize for telling me I was going to end up sad and alone TWO MONTHS postpartum, all because I told them I would appreciate no one kissing my infant during flu & rsv season (-:
Wow I’m sorry you had to deal with that! I don’t understand why people feel the need to treat postpartum mommas like that because they wouldn’t want it done to them!
I love my baby but the whole first month of postpartum was the hardest! C section, engorgement, pumping, breastfeeding, cleaning everyone and everything was a major mental and physical battle!
I FEEL this!! It is so much taking care of everything while trying to navigate breastfeeding and pumping and being everything for everyone while you are trying to heal. You are strong momma! I didn’t have a C-section but have heard how hard the recovery is and that’s a lot!
