✨ Pumping in public ✨

I think I’m finally getting more comfortable pumping in public, our roadtrip/camping trip my baby was too overwhelmed to eat as often as he should have, I got a little engorged so I pumped when we went to the spring. Pretty relaxing but there were definitely a couple people eyeing the situation.

They were eyeing the situation! :joy: I’m glad you didn’t let it bother you. We gotta do what we gotta do for our babies, and should never be ashamed of it! You go girl!! That looks so relaxing taking a dip in the hot spring btw!

Just the other day at Walmart, I was wearing my daughter in my Momcozy carrier. She pulled at my shirt and said “buh”, her word for boob. Girl was hungry! I was about to whip a titty out, and my husband was like “no, what are you doing?!” He handed me the car keys and demanded I go to the truck to nurse her. Like a good wife, I obeyed. I wish I had just done it anyway!!! He’s so afraid someone will see my breast.

So glad you are getting more comfortable with it I am trying to get better about it. I normally pump or feed in the car or pump on the way to where we are going. I wear my nursing shirts so that it is not as obvious and that helps a lot. I wish I wasn’t so worried about it.

I have nursed my baby in public so many times because the car was too hot , our ac doesn’t really kick in until we drive we gotta figure that out but what’s funny is I’m more shy about the pump, maybe it’s the sound I’m not too sure but I’m getting better

I can understand that! Pumps make a lot of noise, and definitely grab people’s attention quicker. That’s awesome you’ve been nursing him in public! It must be hard to cope with your ac problem with summer coming up. I know it’s hot already! I need to just do it when she’s hungry anyways. My husband doesn’t mind me nursing her in a restaurant, but I think that’s because he can hide me in the corner of the booth we’re sitting in.

Yeah i kinda had no choice and my nursing cover he would always pull off his face haha

I was really shy with it at first but now I just kinda pretend no one is around me and ignore anyone side eyeing me. The pump I had to get use too more but it’s getting easier, I think hiking with it helped desensitize me to it

I just took baby steps. It started with our mom group and so many moms were nursing at the park I just joined the party since my son was hungry. It’s a little scarier when I’m alone but then I remember my son is more important than some randoms opinion, I try to be respectful and go to less populated places but sometimes it’s inevitable someone sees

I’m so proud of you for gaining confidence. I would be eyeing you up in complete aw! I don’t see many moms coming in public but when I do, I am so proud and I feel so empowered! We are making food for our babies. That is just so incredible.

It’s great you’re gaining the confidence. It’s great to have the added freedom. I find the breast pump wipes so useful for going out and about.

Aweee thankyou that’s so nice of you :face_holding_back_tears: haha I need this type of encouragement honestly it really reminds me that’s it’s okay to do what I do and it’s for my baby he needs the milk and mama needs the relief

You’re absolutely right. Our babies hunger needs come first. They shouldn’t have to wait

Exactly! That’s my mindset right now but like I said I think going out with other moms doing it and then hiking so I wasn’t around too many people helped me become desensitized.

I was at a mom walk the other day and a mom was hand pumping while we were walking ! :raising_hands: I was like “get it mama” hahaha

I don’t blame him it’s too hot for all of that :joy: Same I’m not going to let my baby be hungry so you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes

I’m glad you are feeling more comfortable pumping in public. Some tips, if your in a loud place no one will notice. If it’s quiet you can always play music to hide it. Also loose shirts and no one will notice  I’ve pumped even at family gatherings, thankfully they are very loud and no one notices. My baby won’t breastfeed when we are out and about anymore

I don’t know anyone who breastfeeds or has breastfed before. I have found that the older my daughter get, the more desensitized I become. Just the other day I took my mother-in-law to the hair salon and we were sitting in chairs facing the stylist while we waited. The stylist was speaking to my mother-in-law and didn’t even notice I was breastfeeding my daughter while she was sitting upright on my lap.

That’s so awesome your mom friend was hand pumping while on your walk!

Yeah he doesn’t want to be under a nursing cover either when it’s hot, I don’t blame it at all so like you said I just do what I gotta do, his needs come before others judgement

Wait this is great!!! And yeah my baby gets overstimulated I think and excited so he can’t stay focused enough too eat when we are out so I have to pump. Okay got it music is a great idea and the loose shirt ! Genius

That happens at home all the time! Sometimes he just latches onto me and it take me awhile to realize he’s eating hahaha I sleep without a shirt a lot for this reason.

Yeah she was so nonchalant about it  it was obvious this was her second baby
