That’s a big question. lol. Everyone will have a different experience. I was induced because I had gestational hypertension. After I was induced and they checked 12 hr later, I was only 3cm. After an epidural, when you get home, walking feels like you did it for the first time. Take it easy but walk. I didn’t bleed much after and wasn’t too sore. I had a second degree tear. If you plan to breast feed, drink lots of water and eat a variety of healthy foods. Always keep healthy snacks nearby because you’ll be hungry. The body burns at least 500 more calories per day.

I loved wearing the adult diapers instead of the huge pads.

At your 6 week PP check up, if you’re having urine leakage or tightness in your lower abdomen, ask about pelvic floor physical therapy. I loved it! No more urine leaking and I can strength train again without pain.

I was induced twice. Both times they said it can take 3 days. I didn’t like that and did everything I could to prepare my body to have it less. My first I was in labor for 24 hours. My Second I was in labor for around 14ish hours. If you need any tips let me know

As another said, I think the experience is different for everyone. For me it was full of joy as a first time mum, but also loneliness that I hadn’t expected. I was looking out for the “baby blues” and post partum depression due to the experiences of some family members, but I never really realized what that could actually feel like or that I could literally cry for three weeks yet also be so happy that I finally had the baby I had been dreaming of for years. I also felt so strange kissing my baby at first - it was like I was borrowing someone’s baby and that was a boundary I couldn’t cross, but after a couple of weeks he truly felt like mine. Mixed emotions were very confusing.

I also found that social media pushes you to want and think you need so much stuff. In reality I have been happy with second hand clothes, an egg light, and a little bathtub. My baby slept on me for two months, which was exhausting, and so many people said he would get used to it and I would never get away from that - but I stuck to my intuition that was telling me he just needed that comfort as a newborn but would grow out of It and I’m happy (lucky?) that he did.

The most shocking thing for me was finding out how hard breastfeeding (and later pumping) is. Had no idea about that! Getting support from a lactation consultant is definitely worth it If you’re able.

It’s hard do describe it’s a lot of feeling we’ve ever felt before a lot of exhaustion meets love and it’s beautiful but can be hard at times!!! I think you being here will be a great tool for any questions you have and emotional support along the way
