Milk supply for baby

Hi everyone! I will be a new mom in october and i would like to breastfeed my baby/ pump. I was wondering what personally helped your milk supply? I don’t want a massive oversupply but would like to keep some in my freezer for if i have to let someone else watch him. Thank you in advance.

Scheduling a meeting with a lactation consultant my pediatrician had one connected to their office. You can ask your doctor about that.

Making sure that you always prioritize drinking water and talking whatever you drink now you’re going to drink more if you think you’re drinking enough you probably need to drink more

Make sure that you prioritize eating food because if you skip meals because you’re tired or you don’t have time you’re not going to be able to keep up your milk. I would also try prepping some meals now that you can freeze her as friends and family to make you some meals that you can freeze if they’re willing to.

Get yourself a wall pump and consider getting yourself aware of a pump.

You will need to nurse or pump every 2 to 3 hours ready at the beginning probably closer every two hours. Keeping that schedule is going to be critical.

Lastly, most importantly is believing in yourself give yourself grace. It is very hard and the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but you are strong and you are amazing.

Having the correct flange size (if you have a Momcozy pump it should come with a measuring tool in the box) drinking lots of water and staying hydrated matters so much! Practicing putting your pump together a few times before you actually need to use it so you get familiar with it so it won’t feel so overwhelming when you do need it. Make sure you are eating enough protein and give yourself grace because breastfeeding/ pumping is hard and it has a learning curve until you figure out what works best for you and your baby.

Hi mama!

Pumping every 2-3hrs in the beginning is crucial to your milk supply since it is hormonal driven. Make sure your using the correct flange size to help you empty properly as emptying tells your body you need more milk.

Eating enough calories and protein along with water and electrolytes.

Sleep and rest also helps, I know it’s hard with a new baby but sleep when you can!

Use coconut oil when pumping and in the beginning days using silver nipple cups in between feeding/pumping will help ease the pain! - I almost gave up because of it. But it only last the first 2 weeks for me.

you got this!
