Motherhood wishes: I Wish I knes

I wish I know that not all partners show up the way you expect.
Before becoming a mom, I imagine we will share everything equally—night wakings, feedings, the mental load, all of it. But the reality is different. Sometimes, it feels like the help I get is the bare minimum, and that is really hard to accept while I am already exhausted and overwhelmed.
I am learning that this can happen, and that it is okay to speak up about what I need. Motherhood is already a huge adjustment—I should not have to carry it all alone.
What I am realizing is that communication matters so much, and so does setting clear expectations. And if things still feel unbalanced, it is okay to ask for more support or find it elsewhere too.
What I wish I know: I deserve real support, not just the minimum.

I’m so sorry momma. Yes, speaking about it is important. You deserve help and respect

Yes! I agree. We shouldn’t have to tell people we need help, it should be obvious sometimes. And you deserve help and support that you want and need. I, myself struggle to ask too. It’s hard to ask for help, but when you’re drowning, you have to speak up. Otherwise, everything can fall apart. It’s better to reach out now before something happens that you or anyone else would never want. My husband always reminds me to communicate because, “A closed mouth doesn’t get fed.” It’s simple advice, but it’s true. Sometimes our partners are tired too, thats why you have to ask them directly. It’s okay to ask help mama. Hugs :butterfly:

Sending you so much love. Motherhood is hard enough without feeling like you’re carrying the weight by yourself. I hope things continue to get better for you.

I can’t wrap my head around how women do this alone but they don’t expect anything from anyone. But knowing there is someone there and feeling like you are doing it alone probably feels worse. Motherhood is hard but it’s not impossible. Sitting down and speaking about the problem will help. Other people will never have the same mindset about your own kids like mom.

I’m sorry you are going through this. You are right is is so Important to communicate your needs as well. They just assume that we can handle it all.

I can relate to that! At the same time, I feel like I need to do everything myself because no one can take care of my daughter as well as I can. It’s so frustrating…I want a break, but I don’t trust anyone completely with her.
