One thing I hope this Support List doesn’t leave out is… your breastfeeding plan is just a plan, and it’s okay if it changes. 💗

With my first babies I had an idea of how I wanted feeding to go, but real life doesn’t always follow the plan. Breastfeeding was actually really hard for me at times because I experienced D-MER. I would suddenly feel sad, angry or just really off right after let down and I honestly thought something was wrong with me.

I didn’t understand why I could love breastfeeding my baby but still have these awful feelings during feeding. Once I learned about D-MER it made so much more sense and I realized I wasn’t doing anything wrong.

I also learned that it’s okay to change your feeding plans. Maybe you breastfeed, pump, supplement or end up doing something completely different than you planned. With each baby things can look different and thats okay too.

I think moms need to hear sooner that changing your plan doesn’t mean you failed. Give yourself some grace. You’re allowed to choose what works best for you and your baby, even if it looks different than what you imagined.
