Support her 🩷 my personal journey

despite what I had expected, breast-feeding have been one of my biggest and hardest journeys. This is my first bio baby, and I feel like I’ve been tested since day one.

When my daughter was born vaginally 8 days early with no inductions, I had haemorrhaged and lost almost half of my body‘s blood. In the hospital, they had me use a pump to try and get out some colostrum which even using a pump was minimal. My daughter had continued to lose weight until she was about 14% down of her birth weight at our one week Mark. I was devastated.

Fortunately, the hospital I was at we were able to receive lactation consultant care from day one, but with that I have to do triple feeding while topping up with formula, I was heartbroken to say the least.

I had continued pumping since then, and breast-feeding overnight, but still trying to prioritize my own sleep and mental health when possible.

End of August started to receive donor milk from fellow moms so I was able to take my daughter off of formula as it did cause her reflux plus as many parents know it gets expensive fast

Fast forward to today my daughter is 3 1/2 months old and I am now able to breast-feed her entirely except I do still give her a bottle a day on the moment she’s extra fussy or I need some time for self-care.

From someone who had to supplement 50 to 75% or more of my daughter’s intake this feels like an incredible feat.

I hope that any moms who need to see this get to; it’s OK to be an under supplier and it’s hard when all you see is over suppliers. But nothing is wrong with you. You’re an amazing mother. And please give yourself grace. :white_heart:

You’ve overcome so much to get to where you are today, what a beautiful reminder that every feeding journey is valid and that giving ourselves grace is key. Sending you and your sweet baby so much love! :two_hearts:
