I’ve seen lots of mom in the community asks how to increase milk supply. Unfortunately due to moderate to severe damage during my labor, I even did not have any milk even 1 week postpartum.
One thing that helped me the most during pumping was letting go of the idea that everything had to be perfect.
In the beginning, I felt guilty to no or low supplement . Eventually, I realized that a fed baby and a healthy mom matter far more than chasing perfection.
On the practical side, creating a simple pumping station made a huge difference. I kept my pump, bottles, snacks, a large water bottle, and nipple cream all within reach. I consulted lactation consultant, and she recommended to stop working even I use wearable pumps. I can just relax instead of sit in front of computer.
To all moms: You’re doing an amazing job, even on the days when it doesn’t feel like it. Every feeding, every cuddle, and every bit of love counts.
I struggled with the same feeling that everything g needed to be perfect! Once I let that go things became so much easier! Motherhood can be messy and that’s okay!!!
I felt guilty as well with my 1st and 2nd baby’s having to supplement an I learned to give my self grace because stressing out wasn’t going to help and a fed baby is best.
I agree with the keeping a simple pumping station. It really does make things easier because it’s all organized and it’s easier for you to complete the sessions.
This is such a beautiful and grounding post! Letting go of the guilt and giving yourself grace after a difficult birth is so tough, but so freeing. Love your practical tip about stopping multi-tasking during pump sessions, resting while pumping makes a world of difference! Hugs
Great to hear that you learned to give yourself grace. Especially after I read stories in this community, I found we are so great. We don’t need to feel guilty at all
Thank you sweet~ Also glad to be a part of the community. Sometimes only mom knows how difficult other moms are. After I back to work, I also felt guilty for reduced working efforts, but for those colleagues that have children, they just told me they understand that, they are okay to help me on my work.
Yeah that’s also a hard part!! If you eat too little, then you also worry about the breastmilk nutrition… So that’s why I’m not guilty for low supply now. Give her some formula is not bad at all as formula has good and balanced nutrition
Yes this!! Once I let go of the need to do everything perfectly it just kinda feel into place and my anxiety went down a lot!!! It was truly a eye opener but you did amazing this is super inspiring I appreciate you sharing so much
