You Are Not Alone in the Postpartum Journey

One thing I hope this Support List doesn’t leave out is how emotional, exhausting, and confusing postpartum can feel. You can love your baby more than anything and still feel overwhelmed, cry during a feeding, question yourself, or feel guilty when things do not go as planned. That does not make you a bad mother—it makes you human.
My tip for every new mom is to lower your expectations and accept help without feeling ashamed. Let someone prepare a bottle, wash the pump parts, bring you water, hold the baby, or take care of the laundry while you rest. Even a short break can help you feel stronger for the next feeding.
Please remember that you do not have to choose between being grateful and admitting that you are struggling. Whether you breastfeed, pump, use formula, or combine different methods, your baby is being cared for with love. If you have felt this way, what helped you most: sleep, family support, pumping, formula, or simply someone listening? Share your tip below so another new mom can feel less alone. :yellow_heart:

This post is very informative and I do not like seeing you cry. I don’t like seeing anyone crying in general , but having support throughout this is important. I wish I would’ve joined this community as soon as I found out that I was pregnant because I had to go through this alone with my husband and I can’t believe how much wisdom everyone has especially moms that have a lot of kids.

The emotional break-down is something that is either not Said or its hidden as some feel wrong or guilty or ashamed. We shouldn’t be, as it is ok to be overwelmed,ok to sometimes cried it out and it is ok to ask for help:pink_heart::folded_hands:t4:

I struggle myself. I don’t know if I have the best tips. But one thing that helps on extra hard days is music that I listened to as a teenager young adult

Some days can be hard. I hear you momma. This month has been hard on me. Honestly I’ve been listening to music!! Sometimes days are just hard and nothing helps. I’ll grab myself some ice cream to. And eat it in the closet so my kids don’t see:joy:. If you ever need to talk I’m here. Just now some day it will be better!

Remember to be kind to yourself. I hope your postpartum gets easier. I’m 7 months pp and I had a crying breakdown not too long ago. My husband was asking me what was wrong and after weeks of saying “I’m just tired.” I let it all out. Because I was tired, I needed a nap, but also needed to shower, was tired of getting puked and peed on, hadn’t had time to food prep, cook, eat anything besides junk food, do dishes, take garbage out, sweep, mop, dust, baby’s and my laundry and everything I’m surrounded by when I’m at home. And I have to do that all while baby is sleeping or it’s just spend time feeding/changing the baby. As rewarding as being a mom is, it’s equally hard. It’s really overstimulating and the concept of personal space is lost when you have a small one with poor motor skills slapping you, themselves, and grabbing hair. It’s okay to cry and when it gets hard, it’s good to cry it out. It’s good to vent it out. Just don’t bottle up your emotions or what’s eating at you. You can’t get help or fix an issue if others don’t know there’s an issue.

You’re absolutely not crazy. If you have someone you trust, let them watch your little one for an hour or two and take a break. You could nap, shower, have a nice meal, anything besides housework. Because that’s not a break. That’s something I struggle with. Remember you’re a human and not a robot and you need a break, and it’s okay to take a break and reach out. It takes a village.

Keeping expectations low is real important. I have combo fed all my babies with no shame. It’s less stress on me and I don’t feel that in failing my baby because they still eat really well!:heart::heart: all my love to you momma

This is very true and so real mama !! I couldn’t agree more with this it’s so healthy to admit we may not be feeling our best or we need help that’s what makes us strong is reaching out and asking for help or support
